Note:
”Sweeping the Floor” is a concept used before administering a throw-in or free throw.
Do the following when “sweeping the floor” on a throw-in and free throw.
A. Check your clock(s).
B. Check the table for substitutions.
C. Get eye contact with your partner(s).
D. For a free throw, make sure the opponents are in the first spots.
2. If you have a technical foul, no need to discuss:
A. Ruling Official report it to the table and go opposite the table.
B. Off Officials get the calling official going in the right direction.
C. After free throws, get ball back into play.
D. Trail Official please don’t appease the Head Coach that was just called for a technical foul.
Talk to the Head Coach if needed when there is a dead ball and tempers have calmed down.
Note*- This procedure must be discussed in pre-game.
“Running the Game”
A. Know your clock(s).
B. Know your throw-in spots.
C. Be aware of Substitutes.
D. Know when a team is in the bonus or double bonus.
E. Get the teams out of huddles, especially after a time out.
F. Go over disqualification procedures.
G. On free throws, hustle and keep the game moving, do not freeze free throw shooter.
H. Know your penalties.
I. Know your procedures.
J. When the ball is dead be alive.
K. Know your shooter.
