1. On multiple free throw attempts as the Lead Official,  do not stand next to the last player. For all free throws be 4-6 feet off the end line. This is the NFHS and IAABO Manual Mechanic.

2. In 3 person officiating as the Lead Official look for reasons to rotate. In 2 person officiating, look for reasons to go ball side.

3. When making decisions on the floor, your mind must keep up with your eyes.

4. Read some part of the Manual everyday.

5. On dunk attempts, the Trail and Center Official have to be aware of point of contact plays.

6. In the Trail position, be ready to assist with A-B contact on plays to the ring, assist with a cadence whistle.

7. When a coach asks a question, answer the question using rule book terminology.

8. Have Strength without  Arrogance.

9. Have Humility without Weakness.

10. When working the Trail position in “3” person, don’t give up your sideline. This is a starting point to get open angles. In “2” person in the Trail Position, go where you need to go to obtain an open angle.
