1. A2 begins a try for goal. Before the ball leaves A2’s hand(s), A1 requests a timeout. The officials deny the request because A2 is in the act of shooting. T-F
 
2. A1’s field goal passes through the net, A2 bats the ball away preventing Team B from readily making a throw-in. The officials issue a warning to Team A. Later in the game A3 breaks the plane of the boundary line during a throw-in. The officials issue another warning. T-F
 
3. A1 and B1 are called for a double foul in the lane while A2 is dribbling the ball in their frontcourt near the division line. Play is resumed with a throw-in at the 28 foot line. T-F
 
4. During a jump ball to start the game, A1 legally taps the ball and A3 and B3 simultaneously knock the ball out of bounds. The officials rule that A3 and B3 should be the jumpers at the center circle. T-F
 
5. After the 15 second warning signal sounds during a timeout, A6 reports to the scorers’ table. The officials do not allow the substitution. T-F

    Al Battista is regarded as one of the most knowledgeable experts in the field of basketball rules at all levels.  In addition to this, he is a well-known clinician and observer of officials.   Currently, he is Maryland State and Board 12 Interpreter for scholastic basketball.  He has served as an officials’ observer for the NBA and WNBA and is currently the NBA chief scout for officials in the Northeast USA.
